Where does it come from? This darkness...
Born in 1972 in Portland Oregon, raised white trash on rock n roll and horror films. I think that pretty much says it all. But I didn't end up toothless, thin as a rail, insane and on my hands and knees combing the carpet. No, but I am still far from 'normal' as defined by society. I am the 'freak' because I listen to death metal and enjoy horror films like most people enjoy comedy.
I grew up on Kiss, Alice Cooper, John Carpenter, Stephen King and Wes Craven. I read comic books endlessly. I read books about hauntings and the occult. I drew monsters after the likes of Bernie Wrightson, Simon Bisley and Brom. The darker side of life has always appealed to me. Danny Elfman, Trent Reznor and Al Jourgensen are certainly huge influences of my electronic flavored music, but Six Feet Under, Testament, Suicidal Tendencies, NWA and Cypress Hill have had equal playtime. They all come from the darker side of life. If you have to ask why, you just don't get it and I can't explain it to you.
